TreeCard is building a superapp for environmental consumers.
The product provides users with a suite of fintech, lifestyle and ecommerce alternatives, allowing them to effortlessly live more sustainably responsible. The US-based fintech, famed for its sustainably-sourced wooden debit card, uses revenue from transaction interchange, subscriptions and affiliate fees to plant trees in biodiversity hotspots and areas affected by deforestation. TreeCard is now expanding across the US and worldwide.
Why we invested in:
- The business case: Since its inception in 2020, TreeCard has grown its user base to 160,000 MAUs in the US with over 20,000 subscribers. Despite fintech being a crowded space, TreeCard has developed a strong niche which is gaining customer traction as consumers look to make environmentally-conscious financial choices.
- The team: Founder & CEO Jamie Cox studied at University of Oxford (Classics), and subsequently became a Thiel Fellow- having previously founded Cashew, a ‘Venmo for the UK’ fintech, and Fluidstack, an AI-first cloud computing service platform. James Dugan, COO is a graduate of Durham University and was Head of Growth of Cashew alongside Jamie.
