Mission Zero offers a modular electrochemical DAC solution powered by renewable electricity and built by off-the-shelf technology to deliver carbon removal at scale. 

Why we invested:

• The climate case: DAC is essential for achieving our global net-zero targets. According to the IPCC, up to 10 gigatonnes of CO2 must be removed from the atmosphere annually by 2050. DAC will enable the reversal of the temporary overshoot from historical emissions and emissions from hard-to-abate industries.

• The business case: Mission Zero's electrochemical DAC system is primed to overcome the current bottlenecks of affordability and scalability through significant energy savings, increased process efficiency, and a modular scale-up approach. The company is expected to achieve market-leading CO2 prices at a capacity of 1,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, facilitating a commercially feasible scale-up roadmap.

• The team: Mission Zero’s CEO, Nicholas Chadwick, is a Ph.D.-trained chemist and materials scientist with extensive experience in scaling hardware technologies. COO, Shiladity Ghosh, began his career in academia, earning a Ph.D. in chemical engineering at Imperial College London, and holds an additional MBA. CTO, Gaël Gobaille-Shaw, is a Ph.D.-trained electrochemist experienced in establishing world-leading IP strategies.
